Sacher Torte cake

Have you tried the Sacher Torte cake? This legendary dessert consisting of two layers of spongy chocolate cake, with a layer of apricot jam or cherries inside, covered entirely in a dark chocolate glaze. It is named after pastry chef Franz Sacher who created it in 1832 in the capital of Austria.

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredient Weight
Pillsbury™ Egg Free Chocolate sponge 500g
Apricot jam 200g
Chocolate ganache 150g
Mildly sweet sugar syrup 100g
Chocolate garnish 50g

Preparation

  1. Slice the sponge in 3 equal halves.
  2. Soak the sponge with sugar syrup evenly then layer it with apricot jam.
  3. Refrigerate the layered cake for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Finish the cake with melted chocolate ganache and garnish it.
